Description
Students get a hands on learning experience with credit cards through marketplace simulation. Teachers partner with local bank members to educate their students on credit card usage, interest rates, payments, credit scores, credit card fraud and safety. A marketplace simulation can be created right in the classroom or virtually using a presentation platform allowing students to get a first hand experience learning about financial literacy with a focus on credit cards as they "buy goods". Students then turn the knowledge they gained into an informational brochure to educate other students, teens, and young adults.
Resources
Projector, computer, internet access
Deliverables
After the simulation, the students will be working in groups to design and create an informational brochure about credit card usage, fraud, and safety. These brochures will then be given to the bank to give to teens and young adults to help inform them on costs and benefits of credit cards, and the impact they may have on their future.
