Resources
You can help Take Down Tobacco by following these 3 steps.

STEP 1: Complete the courses.

You have a choice on how you want to take the Take Down Tobacco courses. One, watch them online on your own or with a group. Or two, take part in virtual live training sessions run by youth council members from ISTEP. It's the same material—it's up to you how you want to master it!

Online course option:
  1. TAKE DOWN TOBACCO 101 (Completion time: 35 minutes)
  2. THE RISE OF VAPING (Completion time: 20 minutes)
  3. MESSAGING MATTERS (Completion time: 45 minutes)

 Virtual live training option:
  1. TAKE DOWN TOBACCO 101 : March 31 at 5:00 pm
  2. THE RISE OF VAPING, April 6 at 7:00 pm
  3. MESSAGING MATTERS, April 8 at 4:30 pm
Email Jill.Wright@idph.iowa.gov to sign up for the live training sessions.

STEP 2: Create a social media video to your peers.

  • Give your videos a "Vaping Vs. Reality" theme to help it fit into the current campaign. This will amply all of our messages that reveal the unfiltered truth about tobacco—and the damage it's doing to us and our friends. Check out the campaign and scroll down to the "Vaping Vs. Reality Campaign" materials here: https://iowastep.org/resources
  • Your video can be shared on TikTok, YouTube, Snap Chat, Instagram or Facebook. You know the drill to get attention: be engaging, funny, creative—while delivering your truth bomb about how tobacco and vaping are not healthy for young people.
  • Want to collaborate? Youth Council members and/or the ISTEP Youth Coordinator are available to help out on your project. Just email Jill.Wright@idph.iowa.gov

STEP 3: Send us your video.

Once we receive your video, we'll send you a Take Down Tobacco kit filled with ways to make sure your message is heard—loud and clear! This package will have materials from the Iowa Department of Public Health to help you promote your tobacco free message at your school.
