Aligning Expectations: Creating Compassionate Competent Problem Solvers
Project Generator
Description
As part of Tier 1 of Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS), the aim of this project is to create building and community expectation videos that can be used as training videos for future students. These videos were previously created by teachers and need to be updated to align with current expectations and vocabulary. Every year, all students participate in an academy where they learn expectations and what it looks like to be competent, compassionate problem solvers in each of these settings (bathroom, playground cafeteria, etc). This learning will be followed by class discussion and positive reinforcement as students demonstrate these skills. To enhance the learning, students will then create expectation videos for each area of the school including what each expectation looks like and sounds like. These videos will be used at the beginning of each school year and throughout the year as a review of the expected behavior in the building. In addition to creating expected behavior videos for each of the areas of the building, students will partner with local businesses to create similar videos reflective of their needs.
Deliverables
Students will create expectation videos to demonstrate what compassionate, competent problem solvers look like/sound like in every area of the school.
