Through Invent Iowa and Invention Convention you can introduce your students to a world in which they will solve their own problems and gain confidence to invent their own future. Invention Convention is easy to implement, flexible enough to meet diverse student needs, adaptable to a broad range of disciplines, and accessible to virtually any K-12 learner.
CREATE AN IDEA FOR AN INVENTION, BUILD A PROTOTYPE, AND SHARE YOUR PITCH AT INVENT IOWA
At the State Invention Convention for Invent Iowa, students compete for prizes, including a trip to the National Invention Convention. Invention Convention Curriculum is available for free to all K-12 grade ranges and addresses every step of the invention process. It was written by teachers for teachers and includes a complete suite of lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, rubrics, self-assessments, personalized learning plans and videos.
- Interdisciplinary and standards-based with dynamic activities to fit any subject.
- Flexible: Delivered in 6-12 weeks in class, after school, at home or through independent study.
- Integrates easily into existing school curricula.
- Aligned to Next Generation Science Standards, as well as the Common Core, and includes enrichment and differentiation tools.
- Framework guides students through seven steps of the invention process.
- Invention log documents every step students take in making their invention, recording what they did, why they did it and how they did it.
